Katie Leander
Director of Operations
Katie Leander is a seasoned executive who has spent her entire career in highly regulated industries. She started her career in medical ethics and medical education where she worked at organizations like the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. At the AMA, she worked in the Institute for Ethics on a $1.7M grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to develop a curriculum to educate physicians on end-of-life care. She then spent time writing on issues related to healthcare, the doctor-patient relationship, medical malpractice, and risk management for a large medical malpractice insurance agency and managed their SEO. Next, Katie joined PharmaCann, one the largest privately held, vertically integrated cannabis companies in the US as a patient advocate and educator, rose to serve as Project Manager to the CEO, and was then asked to head a new division of the company, Social Equity and Community Impact. She now serves as Director of Operations for Nexus, where she oversees the operations of the back office, and manages the website, its content, and SEO.
In her free time, Katie likes to go to art museums, watch stand-up comedy, travel (and plan vacations!), and spend time with all of her boys.
